 Review From:  Bill Gillespie
Seattle Seahawk's

"Lee Barkie is the most knowledgeable guide I have ever fished with. He has a special knowledge of catching big fish and lots of them. What separates him from fishing with anybody else is his willingness to pass on that knowledge to other fishermen. So not only do I receive a great fishing experience but I also learn how to become a better fisherman. His gear is first class and he always knows where the fish are biting and the best techniques to help you make great memories.

Lee has treated all my guests from friends, family, and professional athletes like they were his life-long friend. Whether they were experts or first time fishermen, each and every one of them felt like a pro after a day with Lee. There is little doubt about his passion for fishing and soon everybody is excited about catching fish. The only problem you might have is what to do with all the fish and when will you have the chance to fish with Lee again!"

Lee Barkie, was born and raised in Kent WA, where he learned to fish steelhead and trout on the Green and Cedar river at 8 years of age. Lee's family bought a cabin on the Yakima river where he learned to fly fish at a very young age.

Duane Lind, Lee’s uncle, and cousin, Mike Lind, took Lee to the Cowlitz River at 12 years of age for Spring Chinook fishing.  Lee fell in love with the river and when he got his drivers license he spent all his time on the water.  After buying his first jet sled, he was looking for work near the river so he could spend all his time there.

It was not long and the guides in the area got to know Lee and seen that he had a knack for catching fish.  They started calling him when they needed help.  After two years of this Lee made a decision to guide full time in 1986.

Lee moved to Chehalis WA, and made this his home. From Chehalis Lee was able to fish the Cowlitz River year round while being only minutes from the house. Because of his available time on the water, Lee he has the edge on most of the guides that fish the Cowlitz.

With hatchery programs changing all the time, Lee has moved his service to the Satsop and Wynoochie Rivers. Lee was one of the three guides to first run small jet sleds on these rivers. Lee also fishes the Columbia, the Snake Hell’s Canyon, and the Lewis rivers.

With three boats from 17ft to 25ft, Lee has the equipment and the know-how for your adventure. Other guides also work together, swapping advise on where and how to catch fish.

Lee has been looking for a fishing partner for an extensive time, to share information and work with so that his customers have yet another cutting edge on the other guides. His new partner, cowlitz_fishing@yahoo.com happened to be what he was looking for and, like Lee, is a local fishing guide who was also born and raised on the Cowlitz River. Because of their team effort, the duo’s effectiveness grew, crushing the big salmon in their first year fishing the June Hogs. They had great success and are planning many more team trips together, so let Lee and Mark help you Get Your Fish On!
